Access Readers

Mag Stripe Reader

Mag stripe readers utilize cards with magnetic information strips on one site, similar to credit cards. Until recently, Magnetic readers and cards were the most economical method granting access. The readers are not weather resistant and require periodic maintenance.
Wiegand Reader

Wiegand readers and cards are one of the most widely used access reader technologies. Readers are weather resistant and don't require the level of maintenance of Mag readers. Cards are more secure and nearly impossible to duplicate or copy.
Proximity Reader

Proximity readers and cards don't require the user to insert and swipe the card as do the Mag and proximity readers. The user simply brings the card within 5 - 8 inches of the reader to unlock the door. Cards are extremely difficult to duplicate or copy.
Wireless Reader  Wireless readers rely on a highly encoded radio receiver detecting signals from encoded portable keychain touchpads. The concept is similar to the wireless devices used to arm and disarm car alarms only greater precautions have been taken to prevent code grabbing and duplication of radio codes. The user is only required to press a small button, no cards or card swipes required. The keychain touchpad may also be programmed to operate the user's home or business security system as well. The wireless reader is a real convenience.
